Frequently Asked Questions

From symptom and treatment questions, billing questions, and more, we have the answers you need.
1What makes our practice different?
We’ve dedicated our practice to providing you the most effective, evidence-based allopathic and integrative therapies. We realize that you may feel that your health concerns have gone unheard by other doctors, however our providers will take the time to really listen to all your health concerns and understand how health history can play a large part of your current health problems. We will provide you with the cutting-edge testing and treatments to best remedy your condition. We look at test results based on optimal rather than just so-called “normal” or abnormal ranges. Your treatments will be personalized and we’ll guide you every step of the way, continually monitoring your results to not only improve your symptoms, but optimize your health and quality of life.
2Do you take insurance?
Here at IWC, we strive to provide you with the best medical care. In order to achieve this goal, we need to be able to spend quality time with each patient, so that all your issues are addressed. Therefore, we have chosen not to participate in any health insurance plans, which only covers short 5 - 10 minute visits. At the end of each visit, we do provide you with a superbill that you can submit to your insurance company for possible partial reimbursement. This sheet will provide you with the procedure and diagnosis codes that will hopefully allow your maximum insurance reimbursement, but it is up to you to contact your insurance company to see how much you will/can be reimbursed for your visit. We are considered an out-of-network provider.
3How quickly will I start feeling better?
Our goal is to get you feeling better as soon as possible. Many patients begin to feel better within days or weeks of the first visit, while sicker or more complex cases can take longer to see improvement. While we cannot guarantee results, the overwhelming majority of patients feel significantly better by the 4th visit. We attempt to diagnose and treat the underlying abnormalities, including hormonal, metabolic, infectious and physiologic, and attempt to treat the cause rather than just symptomatic treatment (which is usually done) to achieve long-term improvement. Proper correction of abnormalities, when multiple and severe can take longer than simple dysfunctions.
4How many appointments do I need per year?
Adequate monitoring of treatment is an integral part of individualized care and hormone optimization. In order to be sure we are fulfilling our commitment to you and your health, at least two visits per year are required. However, because everyone’s treatments are personalized, your provider may actually require more than the minimum number of visits per year. For example, those patients on controlled prescriptions require a follow up appointment every 2 months.
5What is your cancellation policy?
Out of respect to our practitioners’ time, we require 72 hours’ notice if you need to cancel a new patient appointment and at least 48 hours to cancel a follow-up or IV appointment. A fee of $100 will be charged for no shows or any cancellations without the 48 hour cancellation notice.
6Medicare
HMO insurance, Medicare, and Medi-cal will not reimburse for our services. Most standard laboratory work is done by commercial laboratories that accept and bill insurance directly. With HMO insurance, you have the option of going through your primary care doctor to get some of the testing covered. The doctors/centers have opted-out of Medicare, so Medicare will not reimburse for our services.
7What are the costs of testing and supplements?
Personalized testing is recommended by your provider during your visits. The costs will vary depending on your health concerns. In addition to conventional labs, which may be covered by your insurance, we offer many integrative tests. All testing is optional. On average a patient tends to spend $250 per month on supplements, this amount may fluctuate. For example, you may need a more aggressive amount of supplements upfront and taper off as you heal.
